SEVERE DENGUE
The dengue vaccine available in the SUS is indicated to prevent people from 4 to 60 years of age against any serotype, regardless of whether or not you have already contracted dengue. [1]
Studies prove that the overall effectiveness of the dengue vaccine is 80.2% against all serotypes, from 1 to 12 months after the second dose. [2] In relation to cases of hospitalizations caused by dengue, the vaccine showed 90.4% of effectiveness. [2]
The dengue vaccine is available free of charge in the Unified Health System for the immunization of children and adolescents between 10 and 14 years old, in priority regions. People from 4 to 60 years old can also get vaccinated at private clinics.
The numbers are alarming. Dengue, transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, continues to rise throughout the country. [3]
